Medical Coding

Prerequisites: Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and basic computer experience.

Hybrid course with in depth medical coding designed with hands-on approach to working with ICD and CPT coding books. Upon completion, you will have a solid, working knowledge of coding in a physician’s/outpatient office. As a blended/hybrid course, there will be 6 three-hour classes that are web facilitated, computer mediated instruction. The online environment is student interactive and has teacher-assisted activities. The online segment of the course is required and fulfills a necessary criteria to qualify for the exam. Emphasis is placed on accurate coding selection, following approved guidelines, compliance, correct sequencing of multiple diagnoses, procedure codes, and special concentration on modifiers. This class will serve as a building block to Medical Coding II with CPC Certification Exam Prep.

This series of twelve classes is being taught by Jesicca Andrews, Coder II/Clinical Documentation Specialist at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.Students are required to purchase for the first class:
