Personal Care and Home Health

A home health aide works in the home of a disabled, convalescent or elderly person to provide services such as giving medication, checking vital signs, changing bandages, giving massages and helping with medical equipment. Students learn basic patient care skills, including life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in addition to medical terminology. Graduates will be able to assist nurses and other healthcare professionals, and be qualified to obtain certification.

This course will be taught in a class and clinical lab setting, for hands-on-experience. The course begins with the Campanion/Homemaker focus. It requires 40 hours of training. Those who wish to obtain a Personal Care Homemaker title will have to complete an additional 20 hours of training. If the student wishes to complete training for a Home Health Aide there will be an additional 15 hours of training required. Upon completion of any or all sections, a Certificate of Completion will be issued. ****Textbook will be provided during the first night. The cost of this book is included in the tuition.
